Corporate blogging can be the essence of a brand's online marketing presence and initiatives. Learning it is easy if your understand your audience well.Great design, clear layout and scannable design of blog is very important on the internet because user needs something that is pleasing to the eye before anything. And interesting content. Absolutely! Keep the content to the point and crisp to keep the user interested with useful information and compelling design all the time.
Lets explore two corporate blogs that can work as a perfect example of corporate blogging. At the first glance, both the blogs were different from each other, reason being the different kind of product/brand. Primarily, I think for brands maintaining a blog is bit crucial but time consuming, and both the brands have done great work doing that. There is lots of information on their pages in different form of stories. Lets study in detail-
• Images- Placement of Logo, images and even videos are aptly used in the blog to keep the content interesting in each blog post or the homepage.
• Visual Design- Each chunk stands out and is clearly identified with use of different colors like the grey footer, yellow “join the team” chunk at the bottom. Quick link tab in the right and left ide bar for other blog stories. All the tabs guide user to go to a particular links.
• Content- Content is rich and interesting, divided in different topics. Users are engaged through contests, information, announcements, events and stories. Recipes are shared with the user that shows transparency in the system, company policies, mission, nutrition and all other important information that may interest any consumer, user, employees or partners.
• Links- Various blog posts can be seen through blue links or some hovering effects. Social sharing links are clearly placed everywhere. Archive, read more and other important hot links are used wisely.
• Scanability- Easy to scan as every type of content is divided in chunks and headings are standing out. User will clearly know where to go.
Overall, audience will get any kind of information that interests him/her, company culture comes out to be transparent, clear and designed for the user benefit. From finding snacks to knowing what is happening in the brand and company, everything is conveyed nicely. It completely connects and builds trust with the target audience.
• Images- Images are used but I would still say the blog is dominated by the images, which may be too heavy for the user at times. Video blog posts are also used.
• Visual design- It also gives the corporate feel of the company. Chunks are placed nicely on the blog posts and home page. Blogs at a glance sections gives an idea about the various blog posts with content, links and social sharing buttons. Tabs are visible but there is still scope for quick tabs in the menu bar more prominently.
• Content- Content is definitely used to inform, announce, or share the event details with the user. Content is also available under different tags, which makes it easy to find out what you are looking for.
• Links- Links are used for social sharing, related stories,w hat we are reading, popular posts or the featured posts. Various recent posts, popular posts or most commented are shown on the home page. Blog directory links are also provided and user can also find the country based or industry-based links at the bottom. Good for quick access.
• Scanability- Blog directory drop down menu allows access to all the major topics and related stories. Subscribe now chunk is also there to allow user to subscribe. Bolg posts are shown in small chunks with links to read more, an image and the heading. Blogs are too lengthy but can be find under various heads.
Being the corporate and technical blog it solves the purpose by simply making it scan able. The blog reflects the corporate culture and is more on the business side. The target audience is getting the information they need in everyway but can still incorporate more interesting images.
Keep all of these in mind and you will get attention of your audience at once! Create useful content that attracts visitors above all to your corporate blog.
